Spartans displaces Eat Rite Saints

The team leading the standings of the RBTT Premier Division of the national Cricket Competition changed hands last weekend, as News Spartans defeated Eat Rite Saints by an innings and 62 runs.{{more}}

Spartans batted first and scored 240. Dawnley Grant hit a belligerent 68, likewise Kissinger Mc Lean struck 63. Kentish Jacobs was Saints’ best bowler with 4 for 38, and veteran player, Ted Roberts 3 for 42.

Saints in reply was shot out for 74. Kevin Jackson hit a topscore of 27. Sherwin Mapp bagged 6 for 18 and Kishorn George 2 for 9.

Following on, Saints fared better, making 114. Kishore Shallow 32, Leon Mc Allister 26, and Sunil Ambris 25. Nixon Mc Lean took 5 for 21, and Mapp 3 for 44.

Also in the Premier Division, Police Two displaced AOL Boutique Radcliffe on first innings . Radcliffe in their first strike made 168, with Hezron Lawerence making 55, Delroy Johnson struck 35, and Wayne Harper 24. Elmore Alexander had excellent figures of 7 for 29, with Kenroy Martin taking 2 for 20.

Police responded well with 254. Rolando Wright hit 71 not out, Shackey Greene 40 and Martin 38,. Westrick Straugh took 3 for 48 and Mahlon John 3 for 68.

Batting a second time, Radcliffe was 140 for 5.

Verbert King was 46 not out. Curtis Jack made 27, and Joefloyd John 25. Uroy Farrell had 3 for 25, bowling for Police, when play ended.

Bottlers First Division

In the Bottlers First Division, ASCO One whipped Sion Hill by three wickets. Sion Hill was skittled out for 63, with Andre Hunte taking 6 for 23, and Vernardo Primus 4 for 26.

ASCO, at their turn made 181. Primus, followed up his bowling with 49;Kevin Lorraine 33 and Chris King 31. Kevin Peters 3 for 38, and Malden Scrubb 2 for 51.

In Sion Hill second innings, they scored 137. Peters made 49, and Joseph Medford 26. Hunte took 5 for 42, to finish with match analysis of 11 for 65, and Rajiv Roberts 2 for 7.

Set 20 to win, they struggled to 21 for 7. Medford 3 for 9, and Glenroy Jacobs 3 for 10.

Owia Stars gained first innings over Unique Warriors.

Braxie Browne 5 for 14 and Razine Browne 2 for 18, shared the bowling honours for Owia, as Unique Warriors was dismissed for 60. Owia Stars replied with 103. Randy Thomas topped the batting with 35. Jerome Jack 4 for 21, Jenry Ollivierre 3 for 12.

The Warriors’ second innings stopped at 172. Rodney Lawerence 42, and Ollivierre made 38. Braxie Browne 4 for 34, and match analysis of 9 for 48, Imran Lorraine 3 for 40, and Razine Browne 2 for 50.

At the close, Owia was 96 for 5. Lavia made 34. Ollivierre rounded off a good all round performance with 3 for 3, and Jack 2 for 17.

And, North Leeward gained first innings over defending champion Log Enterprises Masters.

Kishorn Lewis 125 not out, inclusive of seven fours and three sixes and Ronnique Laborde 104 not out, dotted with ten fours and a six, plundered the bowling, as North Leeward posted 282 for 3 declared. Sheldon Hooper chipped in with 36. Jimmy Sam took 3 for 49.

Log Masters was dismissed for 120. Junior Bacchus topscored with 25. Eston Robertson 3 for 24, and Nicklon Alexander 2 for 4.

Asked to bat again, Log Masters was 110 for 5. Earl Cruickshank 26, and Lynton Greaves 25. Mayor Edwards 3 for 35, bowling for North Leeward. (RT)
