Barrouallie 20/20 Softball Competition bowls off

Barrouallie 20/20 Softball Competition bowled off on Saturday, February 28th, at the Barrouallie Playing Field with an exhibition female game and the Under 17 and Open Male ball-o-rama.{{more}}

In the five-overs-a-team exhibition female game, a Barrouallie combined team defeated Super Strikers by 6 runs.

Rockers Boys had the better of Jam Down Youths in the finals of the Under 17 Ball-a-rama, in a very exciting game. It took a 1 over a team bowl off to separate both teams, after the scores were locked at 29 runs each after their 3 overs. Rockers then slammed 21 in their one over bowl off and then restricted Jam Down Youths to 5.

In the Open Division Ball-a-rama finals, De Jokers defeated Rudy’s Electrical to take the winner’s purse of $100. Batting first, Rudy’s were restricted to 33 from their 5 overs. De Jokers, needing 19 to win from their last 2 overs, were safely home with 4 balls to spare.

Four competitive games were played on Sunday. At 9.00 am in the U – 17 Division, Jam Down youths defeated the Archies by 9 wickets. The Archies were bowled out for 77 in the 10th over. Jam Down Youths took only 7 overs to reach their target, with Olex “Bounty” Gabriel slamming 57 not out. In the open male division at 11:00 am, Topsiders had an easy win over Parkside who failed to show up. At 2:00 pm, also in the Open Division, De-Jokers defeated Struggling Youths by 14 runs. Batting first, De-Jokers made 145 for 7 in their 20 overs -Handel Browne, 48. Struggling Youths were then bowled out for 131 in the 17th over. Kentish Murray made 50 in a losing cause.

The competition will continue this coming Saturday and Sunday with games at both the Barrouallie and Keartons Playing Fields.
