RRC holds ‘Round D Town’ Road Relay this Sunday

The road-racing season runs off this Sunday with the Round D Town Road Relay.

And, head of the Road Racing Committee of Team Athletics SVG Leroy Llewellyn is hoping for another bumper turn out this time around.{{more}}

Last year saw a total of forty-six teams competing in the four-leg event.

Llewellyn further stated that Sunday’s race is one of the unsponsored events on TASVG’s calendar. however, he said that his organization will take care of the event.

Among the categories to be contested are the male and female primary schools, male and female secondary, and the open.

Last year, the Georgetown Secondary School dominated both the male and female secondary school segments, with the Stubbs and Layou Primary finishing top of the female and male divisions of the primary schools’ category, respectively.

X-Ceed Sports Club won the open female, and Chatoyers, the open male.

The course will take athletes from the intersection at South River Road and Halifax Street, up Sharpe Street, then on to Bay Street, turning at Lower Bay Street, on to Back Street, with the change over at the starting point.

Sunday’s event is set to begin at 3pm.

More road racing action is set for Sunday, October 12, National Properties Cross Country Championships at the Diamond Estate.

Independence Day, October 27, will see the National Independence 5 and 10 K Classics. The following Sunday, November 2, the North Leeward 5 and 10 K races will take place on the Leeward coast, with the LOG Enterprises 5K set for a fortnight after.

November 23, action will be in the Southern Grenadines island of Canouan. The official series concludes November 30, with the CO Williams 5K and 10K Series. (RT)
