Attackers earned a six wicket win over Pine Hill Nice Radio Clinchers at the Victoria Park, last Friday night.

After hitting 19 off their first over, Attackers, shepherded by 24 not out from their Captain Kenroy Martin, reached 74 for 4, in the 18th over, in reply to Clinchers’ 73. Martin’s effort earned him the Man of the Match, stashing away $200.

Clinchers’ total was headed by Curlan John’s 23. Krissy King took 3 for 14, and Norlan Williams, 3 for 15, bowling for Attackers, as they were ably supported by some good out cricket and vocal reinforcement from their many supporters who lined the boundary ropes at the south eastern end of the park.

Attackers, who shared last year’s inaugural title with South Rivers, pocketed $2500, and a trophy, while Clinchers became $1500 richer.

Earlier, Street Fighters took the third place and $500.

Led by 72 from Linden James, Street Fighters closed at 108 for 5 off their 20 overs.

RSVG Police fell short by two runs, as they stopped at 106 for 9. Renrick Cato topscored for the lawmen with 25 not out. Westrick Straugh bagged 3 for 19, to push his tally of wickets to 12 and take the Most Wickets award.

James also collected the cash prize for the Highest Individual score, 87.

Stein Joseph, of losing finalist Clinchers, had the highest aggregate of runs, 216. Joseph, ‘ The King of Sixes’, cleared the boundary 27 times.

Salvan Browne, of RSVG Police, and Khalique Samuel, of Street Fighters, had to split the Best Bowling Analysis prize. They both returned 4 for 8.

Also cashing on the night’s pay out were the Most Valuable Players from the quarter final stage.

Rewarded with $100 each were MVP’s Felix Greaves, Anton Caesar, Kenroy Richards, Gerald Gould, Martin and Joseph.

At the Closing Ceremony, which finished just before midnight, Manager of the NLA, Mc Gregor Sealey expressed his concern for the lack of public support for the competition.

Sixteen teams spread into four groups participated in the competition, which lasted for three weeks.(RT)
