Cavaliers go under to Warriors

Cavaliers’ chances of going two up in the Brooklyn Cricket League were shattered last weekend when they lost one game and had the other abandoned.{{more}} Last Saturday at Marine Park, Cavaliers went under to Warriors by one wicket. Cavalier won the toss and elected to bat first. They made 176 all out in 35 overs. Lester Benn, 40, Casper Davis, 39, Mark Audain and Treldon Mc Millan both hit 31. Saqib Ishaq, 4 for 26, Hammad Syed, 2 for 30.

Replying, Warriors reached 177 for 9, Tauseef Ahmed, 30, Arslan Arif, 24, Asad JanJua, 22 not out, and Asif Ali, 16 not out.

A tenth wicket partnership of 72 runs did it in for Warriors. Cavaliers looked set to win, as Warriors was tottering at 115 for 9. But hope slowly turned into reality, as the last two batsmen struck up to the Cavaliers bowling to reach the winning score of 177.

Sunday, Cavalier was set to play St Lucia. Despite the overcast weather which had been predicted, the game began as scheduled. St Lucia won the toss and asked Cavaliers to take strike.

Cavaliers was 233 for 4 from 36 overs, when rain stopped play. Casper Davis, continuing his fine form, was 94 not out. The other principal scorers were Jacob Emmanuel, 35, Mark Audain, 30, and Mc Millan, 26.Victor Mangal had 2 for 19.

Like Cavaliers, the other Vincy oufits, Stars United and Imperial, suffered similar fate.

Stars lost their match on Saturday to Pak Eleven, and on Sunday Imperial game versus Diplomats was rained out.

As the season draws closer to the knock out round, this weekend, Stars United will play Panthers at Seaview.
