Defending Champions Dawles Ballers won their open game against CCA Builders 75 to 32. Digi-Stars also dominated the hoop, netting 79 to 30 against Balance Ballers, and Solid Crushers defeated C.K. Greaves Ballers, 67 to 43.

Fans were treated with spectacular dunks, block shots and hard defence in all three games. The audience saw great basketball talent from some of the foreign-based players from Union Island, playing for Solid Crushers, which brought added skills to the tournament for other younger players to adopt.

The Official ceremony started off with the March Past of teams from the police station to the Canouan Hard Court. Southern Grenadines Parliamentary Representative Terrence Ollivierre welcomed the teams and encouraged all to play with discipline and sportsmanship. He also stressed the need for local players to engage in areas of coaching and refereeing the game of basketball to raise the level of the game for the younger players to come. A better understanding of the game will result in greater success, not only on a local level but regionally, he said.

The feature address was delivered by the president of the Canouan Basketball Association – Rohan Henry, who encouraged the players to continue their strong determination and play the sport with a clean spirit.

All of the sponsors were highlighted for their contribution to the start of the CBA 2nd Basketball Tournament.
