Cavaliers make amends
After losing their last match the previous weekend, Cavaliers Sports Club, remained in contention to push for championship honours in the Brooklyn Cricket League, in New York.
Cavaliers took revenge from a hapless Jinah, as they blasted their bowling. Cavaliers, choosing to bat after calling correctly, amassed 358 for 5 from 35 overs. ##M[more]##
St. Lucian Jacob Emmanuel scored his second century of the season, 130, sharing in an opening stand of 170, before losing his opening partner and skipper Mark Audain for 82.
Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and United States of America middle order batsman, Albert Tesheira, hit a half-century. The left handed Tesheira stroked 54. Another former St. Vincent and the Grenadines batsman, Ted Roberts scored 32.
Jinah was blown away for 164, with Imran Butt making 66, and Mustan Sarh 22.
Alston Bacchus 3 for 27, Roberts 3 for 51, Dominic Audain 2 for 38, and Ezekiel Williams 1 for 28, conjured up their bowling talents to lead their side to an emphatic 194 run victory.
A Vincentian derby between Stars United and Imperial saw the latter finishing in the ascendancy.
Stars took to the crease first, and made 125 all out in 25 overs.
In response, Imperial reached 129 runs for 2 in 19 overs. Imperial won easily by eight wickets.
For Imperial, Otnielle Bostic topscored with 36 not out. Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards batsman Clarence Wyllie chipped in with 30 not out. Everad Olliverre made 23 and former Grenada, Windwards and West Indies Under-19 opener, Kester Sylvester hit 20.
Another national player Veldon Chance took 1 for 29, and Iva Martin 1 for 23, bowling for United Stars.
Imperial scored another victory on the weekend, this time against Warriors. Batting first,Warriors made 160 all out. Imperialâs bowling was led by Kelly Payne 4 for 12, Terrance Clark 2 for 36, Sylvester 1 for 17, Greg Dublin 1 for 13 and Andy Douglas 1 for 24, shared the bowling honours.
Imperial, in reply, made162 for 6. Michael Providence 57 topped their batting not out and Foster Lewis made 20.
The competition continues for the Vincentian teams on Sunday, with Imperial facing Grenada at Marine Park C. Cavaliers and Carriacou meet each other at Seaview.
