Biabou Superstars takes double title

Winning both titles in any tournament is a good achievement. But doing so in the inaugural edition, and playing unbeaten throughout, adds a special meaning.{{more}}

Beacon Insurance Biabou Superstars could attest to the experience when they completed double success in the Vinlec North Windward Basketball Tournament last Sunday night at the Georgetown Hardcourt.

Played under lights, Superstars added the league title, with a 67-61 downing of Kashe Angels. It was also the second time that the Angels had to settle for the runner up spot.

Superstars had earlier in the tournament beaten Kashe Angels, to win the Knock Out crown.

And if to underline their dominance, Biabou Superstars copped three of the other awards. They won the three point team shoot out, and Aldon Daniel secured the trophies for scoring the most points, along with that of the most three pointers sunk in the tournament.

Kashe Angels’ Kemo Peters won the top award of the Most Valuable Player in the Tournament.

The award of Most Disciplined Team was taken by BMC Agencies Biabou All Stars.

The Windward Zone was the second to reach it finale, following the completion of the Central Division in December.

Biabou Superstars and Kashe Angels join the other three teams that have advanced to the Super Eight.

Emerging from the Central Zone were Hairoun, Ball Dawg, and Sion Hill. Hairoun secured the Premier Division league competition, with Ball Dawg taking the Knock Out competition. Sion Hill did the double in the B Division.

The Leeward zone, other zone to be contested, is yet to begin. (RT)
