Kendra’s Aluminum Clean Cutters chopped down the competition

Kendra’s Aluminum Products Clean Cutters are the undisputed champions of the 2007 Rotary South Digicel Firms Soft Ball Cricket Festival. They earned this recognition when they were crowned double champions last Saturday at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex.{{more}}

Having defeated seven teams on their way to clinching the opening 20/20 knock out competition two Saturdays before, the clean cutters made minced meat of their opponents to win their second title of the Festival.

The cutters easily defeated the other four teams in their zone in the first round of the competition, and then went on to clinically out class First Caribbean International Bank in the quarterfinals. However, they literally left the best for last when they squeezed home in the last over of both the semi finals and finals to beat defending champion Port Authority and the National Sport Council respectively.

Kendra’s Aluminum Products Clean Cutters took home $500.00 and a trophy for winning the 20/20 competition, and $1200.00 and the Digicel champion trophy for winning the 8 overs competition. They also won themselves a cake for having the best banner at the opening, while their captain Daniel Shepherd won the Digicel player of the finals award, and their female player Shanette James won Digicel female player of the tournament award. Gosnel ‘GC” Cupid of the Port Authority won the Digicel outstanding male player award, while William “Bill” Edwards won the Digicel player of the Tournament award for making the most runs of 105 and taking 3 wickets. For his outstanding performance, Edwards took home a brand new battery powered vehicle and a smallie compliments Digicel.

Coreas Hazels Inc was the best team at the march past, and also received a cake

This is the ninth year of the competition, and funds raised will go towards the advancement of the International Hospital for children project as well as other charitable projects of the Rotary Club of Vincent South.
