Extended to a round robin format, unlike the recent past in which there was a shortened format, Grenada completed a come from behind win after losing on first innings.
An outright win for either team was always a reality, following the tumble of 27 wickets on the opening day, Monday.
On what was described as a dry surface at the Sion Hill Playing Field, Dominica was shot out for 88. Martin Matthews hit a topscore of 29, as left arm spinner Dennis George, 3 for 12, and the speedy Nellon Pascal, 3 for 25, created havoc for the Dominican batsmen. Camilus Alexander, making a return to national duties for Grenada, had figures of 2 for 24, and Troy George, 2 for 28, to assist in the destruction.
Grenada also found themselves in dire straits, and fell short by four runs. Only skipper Rawl Lewis, 25 not out, made off 98 deliveries, as Grenada was bundled out for 84.
The speed duo of Fernix Thomas, 4 for 15, and Mervyn Matthews, 4 for 23, gave the Dominicans the slight advantage.
But Grenada clawed by to have Dominica reeling at 65 for 7 at the close of play on day one.
The Dominicans were eventually bowled out for 73. Troy George led the pack this time, with 3 for 15, and Pascal, 3 for 25. Set 78 to win, Grenada achieved the target, losing three wickets in the process. Heron Campbell led their batting with an unbeaten 48.
Grenada next plays St. Vincent and the Grenadines from today, Friday, at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, while Dominica opposes St. Lucia at Sion Hill.
