Trini coaches benefit from Labban’s experience
IAAF Level # 2 track and field coaches in Trinidad and Tobago expressed delight and satisfaction with the lecture/practical one-day session conducted on Saturday last by Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines (TASVG) Technical Director, Gideon Labban.{{more}}
Labban, who conducted an IAAF Coaching Certificate Course in Trinidad last year, was invited by the National Amateur Athletics Association (NAAA) of the twin-island Republic, to facilitate the one day session on Periodisation that ran from 9:30am to 5pm.
Labban covered the topics: Brief history on Periodization, terms used in Periodization, Training cycles and its components, Principles of training, Components of the athleteâs long-term plan, Characteristics of the training Periods and Phases, Microcycles and units, Planning the periodized year, Planning Microcycles and Units, Group work – Creating Microcycle plans and making presentations.
Reports coming from the NAAA indicate appreciation of a very high level of proficiency and professionalism on the part of the Vincentian IAAF Coaching Instructor. The session was quite interactive, and participants were quite satisfied with the outcome.
