Under-15 footballers off to T and T

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will participate in the Caribbean Football Union Under-15 Invitational Youth Cup in Trinidad and Tobago from August 19 to 26.{{more}}

St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been placed in the group with Suriname, St. Kitts and the British Virgin Islands, of which the two top finishers will advance to the quarter final phase.

St.Kitts are the only unit new to the Vincentians, having beaten the BVI handsomely in 2005, but lost to Suriname last year when the tournament, an Under-16 event was used a CONCACAF qualifying round.

The four teams will vye for the spots in the southern town of Couva.

Among those carrying the torch for a repeat of their 2005 outing when the local squad reached the quarter final only to lose to Guatemala, are midfielder Myron Samuel and defender Jeron De Roche, who were part of the inaugural competition. They are once again making the trip.

Rocindo Patterson, Omar Thomas, Danzil Edwards and Enroy Johannes are the other midfielders selected.

The defence is fortified by Kamarl Providence, Diandrous Williams, Kenron Williams and Akeem Matthews.

Kyle Raguette, Azihno Solomon, Curlon Joseph, Richard Welcome, Diego Phillips and Kenron Charles are the strikers.

The two goal keepers are Jovan Lynch and Rohan Pompey.

Heading the coaching staff is former national defender Christopher Harry. He will be assisted by Kelvin Yorke, with Kemmuel Browne, the Kit Manager.

Rohan Thomas is the team’s manager. The team leaves today Friday for the twin island republic.
