Bequia Basketball Tournament blazing hot

The Bequia Basketball Tournament continued last weekend with some sizzling action. Dominated by Second Division fixtures, Gladiatorz and Young Blazers both recorded two victories each.{{more}}

Gladiatorz beat Rising Stars II 72 to 49, with Vibert Davis leading the way with 18 points for the victors, while Gladiatorz’ second win came when they defeated Young Duke 74-63. Davis again with 18 points, so too was Cosmus Hackshaw were the high flyers for their team. The leading scorer for Young Duke was Damien Lewis with 27 points.

Like Gladiatorz, Young Blazers chalked up consecutive wins. First they blew away Liberty 92-35, then downed Warriaz 71 to 57. Against Liberty, Jemuel Hutchins was the top scorer with 20 points and versus Warriaz Fritz Lewis took the spotlight with 15 points for Blazers, but he was still out-pointed as Lindell Sandy sank 29 points for the losers.

There was one First Division fixture and one Under-16 fixture also played on the weekend.

In First Division action, Duke won over East Blazers 71 to 60.

Leading the way for Duke was Bradford Duncan with 28 points, while for East Blazers, Michael Peniston and Cornelius Farrell knocked in 18 points each.

In Under 16 Division action Diamondz defeated Young Wizards 26 to 16.

The leading scorer for Diamondz was Daria Gordon with 14 points.(RT)
