The well-disciplined unit last Sunday afternoon at the Richland Park Playing Field turned around the luck on last yearâs winner Street Fighters.
In a repeat of the 2006 episode, the script was similar, with revenge the plot.
Clinchers chalked up 139 for 9 in their 25 overs. Osneth Cato made 38, Mc Leon Williams 30 and Curlan John 28 combined to give their bowlers a target to aim for. Wesrick Straugh 2 for 20 and Azzie Quashie 2 for 29 were Street Fightersâ main wicket takers.
What seemed a walk in the park for the formidable Street Fighters batting, ended in reverse, as wickets fell regularly.
Street Fighters never recovered from their loss of a wicket in the first over via the run out route.
They were eventually bowled out for 65 in anti-climatic fashion. Like a duplicate, it was at that same score that Clinchers were dismissed in last yearâs grand finale.
Cato followed up his batting with 3 for 9 and Dill Clarke 2 for 21. Only the gifted Austin Mc Dowaldâs 16 was any score of note.
Earlier in the day Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem bagged the third place displacing RSVG Police by 87 runs. Nar Fren Dem totalled 140, with Rayan Antoine making 27 and Dyke Cato 23. Saleme George was the pick of the lawmenâs bowling with 3 for 22 and Brenton Smith 2 for 20. Police were overturned for 53. Kenford Collis 3 for 11 and Krishna Da Silva 2 for 13 shared the bowling spoils for Nar Fren Dem.
The presentation of prizes won in the competition will take place early in the new year when the Marriaqua Sports Association holds its annual gala ceremony for all its sporting competitions. (RT)
