SVGCA to honour cricket trio
George Browne, Owen Cuffy and Michael Findlay will be the guests of honour at the second Award of Excellence of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association tomorrow night at Government House.{{more}}
Under the patronage of His Excellency Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, the three will be recognised for their contribution to cricket.
Browne is the second umpire from this country to officiate at the highest level of West Indies cricket.
Cuffy is former member of the SVG Cricket Association. He is credited with the development of the sport in the North Windward area and is considered one of the best swing bowlers the country has produced.
Findlay, a former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards, Combined Islands and West Indies wicket keeper batsman has acclaimed many titles for his gentleman approach he brought to the game.
He was the manager of the West Indies team that recently toured England. A former chairman of the West Indies selection panel, Findlay was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Cricket World Cup Local Organising Committee.
Minister of Sports Glen Beache, First Vice President of the SVGCA Elson Crick and Ballantyne are expected to give addresses at the ceremony which begins at 7 pm.
Last year, the associationâs honourees were Dr. Gideon Cordice, Frank Mason and Lennox John.
