Kineke Alexander was unable to recapture her 2006 form at the US NCAA outdoors and had to settle for a disappointing sixth place in her 400m pet event at the 2007 edition staged last Saturday in Sacramento.{{more}}

The 21-year-old Vincentian who was a pre -race favourite for Iowa State University clocked 52.13 seconds, a time markedly slower than her last year’s 51.35 seconds, when she established a new St. Vincent and the Grenadines record in that event.

And many Vincentians had an opportunity to see her live as it was shown on CBS television.

When SEARCHLIGHT contacted Alexander last Tuesday night, she was obviously disappointed at her placing in the final of one of her major collegiate outings.

Alexander, while not making excuses said that her recent injury affected her training so she was short of work.

“I was not able to train as I should”, she said.

She admitted that she had fully recovered from her leg injury; Alexander is putting last Saturday’s under par performance behind her as she prepares for the Panama Games in Brazil, next month.

Alexander clocked 52.13 in heat three last week Wednesday to comfortably win that segment. She entered the semi finals with the fastest time. Alexander then went on to clock 51.80secs to win heat two of the semi finals.

Natasha Hastings of South California won the 400M in 50.15 secs. Florida State was the overall champion.
