The telecommunications company assisted the Sandy Bay âLollipopâ cricket team with T-shirts to participate in the East Kingstown Dynamic EKD softball competition in which the team placed third overall.
Captain Roy Baptiste said the last game they won was against âSurvivalâ of Belair in which they scored 137 for six, beating that team by one run.
Baptiste said that although they placed third overall in the competition, the team was very proud of their performance and was grateful to have Digicel believe in them enough by supporting them with T-shits.
Emphasizing the importance of sports, the Captain said that the Sandy Bay âLollipopâ cricket teamâs ultimate goal was to have their own wind ball competition in their community to keep the young people positively engaged in sports instead of being idle.
Marketing Manager Juno Deroche on congratulating the team on their performance in the cricket competition said Digicel was pleased to assist the team and was particularly delighted to assist those from the rural community that were trying to keep their youngsters involved in sports.
