SVG making great strides in Volleyball

This country was ably represented in the persons of LaDonna Woodley and Nikita Campbell who took to the sand in excruciating heat at Saith Park, Chaguanas, Trinidad. The competition boasted such big names in the sport as: United States of America, Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico and many other Central American and Caribbean countries. Puerto Rico entered two teams and their number 1 team snatched victory in an exciting three set match finish (21-18, 18-21, 18-16) from the indomitable Cuba who were favoured by many to win.

Canada put in an impressive display to garner the coveted and well-deserved third place spot on the podium, in a demonstration of sportsmanship that is worthy of emulation. Woodley and Campbell, our St.Vincent entry, placed tenth which was a very good showing for the first effort by this country in any international competition of this calibre. President of the St.Vincent and the Volleyball Association, Shaun Young was courtside to witness this momentous occasion and has high hopes for continued participation in the international arena. Young solicits the schools and the communities to take advantage of the various programmes on offer by the association to shore up the talent pool to the greater good of the sport.
