Huggins masters a century

Theodore Huggins hit the first century ever of the National Masters Cricket competition, into its second year. The brawny Huggins, known more for his skills on the Volleyball courts wrote his name in the history books last weekend as defending champion Belfongo maintained their unbeaten run.

Huggins slammed 108 which included 14 fours and two sixe, out in the second ball of the 20th over. Wendell Glasgow 54 not out as Belfongo amassed 194 for 1 in their 20 overs.{{more}}

Dasent Cottage, the Cinderellas of the competition reached 126 for 6 in their 20. Ardon Hall topscored with 60 and Winston Knights 27, but their efforts were not complemented by the other batsmen, as Curtis King bagged 3 for 9.

While Belfongo are on a roll, Sion Hill broke their succession of wins losing to Mr. Cool.

Batting first, Mr. Cool Masters made 18 all out in 18.5 overs. Phillip Anthony 25 and Fitz Hall 24 not out. In reply, Sion Hill Masters 78 all out in 15.3 overs. Albert Edwards made 26.

The North Leeward community had another reason to celebrate when Ajuba beat their Central Leeward opponents Barrouallie by 107 runs.

Ajuba scored 210 for 2 in 20 overs, with good contributions by Conroy Ryan 61, David Ellis 49 not out and Jimmel Jeffery 44 not out and Walliston Stapleton 30. Chester Hendrickson and Owen Williams both had a wicket apiece bowling for Barrouallie. At their turn, Barrouallie made103 for 6 in 20 overs. Ian Allen 25 and Mack Quow 22 not out, were Barrouallie’s principal batsmen. Bernard Alexander was the pick of Ajuba’s bowling attack with 3 for 9.In a battle of neighbouring constituencies; Central Leeward crushed South Leeward by 96 runs. Responding to Central Leeward’s 152 for 5, South Leeward playing with eight players were dismissed for 58.Arnos Vale on a path of redemption scored 142 for 8 in 20 overs against P’tani Masters. Ted Roberts led the way with 51, assisted by Richard Todd 19 and Linton Greaves 16. Augustus Mofford 3 for 11 and Clayton Burgin 2 for 20 were the most successful bowlers for P’tani, who fell short by five runs. P’tani Masters were restricted to 37 for 9 in 20 overs, despite the efforts of Elson Crick 25 and Ray La Borde 22. Tedd Roberts 2 for 29, Linton Greaves 2 for 12, followed up the batting exploits and Pat Warner 2 for 30, carved out Arnos Vale narrow win. But an all-round performance by Christopher Campbell could not stop Stubbs from going under to North Windward. Stubbs totalled 101 all out in 17 overs Campbell 25, the bagged 4 for 14 when North Windward batted.Verden Da Souza 3 for 19, Lauron Baptiste 2 for 19 and Ashford Lorraine 2 for 8, combined their bowling to dismiss Stubbs. North Windward overhauled that score reaching 105 for 7 in 16.1 overs, with Osbourne Jordon 33 and Lauron Baptiste 17.
