Cable & Wireless takes cricket into the schools
Cable & Wireless, official sponsor of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 launches its Cricket Essay Competition, under the theme âThe Legacy of Cricket World Cup 2007â.
The competition is open to students from the ages of 7 to 17 years, and the Grand Prize in each category will be a Desktop Computer. The essayâs objective is to capture the experience of Cricket World Cup 2007, and to keep the interest of the sport alive within the region.{{more}}
The competition categories are divided into the 7 – 11 and 12 – 17 age groups. The 7 – 11 age group will be expected to submit an essay of at least 500 – 700 words while the senior division will have to submit an essay of length 1000 – 1500 words.
With warm up matches to be played here from the 5th March 07, students are encouraged to use this as an opportunity to capture some of this historic event first hand. Therefore the essayâs format also encourages the use of pictures and drawings in their submissions.
Essays can be submitted to the Marketing Department of Cable & Wireless no later than the 1st May, 2007. Official rules of the competition and entry forms are available at Cable & Wireless, in Kingstown, on the Cable & Wireless website www.candw.vc and will soon be available within schools across the island.
