Hooper, Stapleton blaze

Two centuries were added to the Vinlec North Leeward Senior Cricket Tournament last Sunday. One came from the prolific Sheldon Hooper. He plundered the Troumaca United bowling hitting 136. This was his second three-figure mark for the season, following his 199 against Rangers.

Hooper’s knock guided his team to 344 for 9 off 46 overs in their game at Petit Bordel. Tishaun Lavia 57 supported him. Dwight Cyrus 4 for 71 was the most successful bowler for Troumaca United. {{more}}

Former Windwards Islands batsman Reynold McLean 39 led the scoring for Troumaca but they faltered and were dismissed for 191 in the 29th over.

Matters could have been worse had it not been for a 55 run last wicket stand.

But then, it was a forgone conclusion.

Hooper’s batting performance established its hold.

Ronique Laborde 3 for 40 was the leading wicket taker for Petit Bordel. That victory went a long way in determining a place for Petit Bordel in the quarterfinal stages.

Ajuba Two also made a positive move towards advancing when they beat Cool Veterans by five wickets.

They owed their triumph to right handed opener Kenny Stapleton. Opening for his team Stapleton slammed an unbeaten 108, in a single-handed display.

He weathered an early onslaught by the Cool Veterans attack, then blossomed into his own with a punishing performance.

Cool Veterans were dismissed for 186, wrecked by Casnell Morris 6 for 50. Leniff Patterson and Byron Lewis 39 each were the leading batsmen for Cool Veterans.
