Vincy girls loose OECS netball title

Despite surrendering the ECCB OECS Under- 23 Netball title, St. Vincent and the Grenadines brought home most of the awards at the 2004 tournament, held in Grenada, July 2 to 7. this country recorded the best defensive average, as well as the best shooting average. {{more}}
Gailene Gordon of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was adjudged the tournament’s best shooter, with her team-mate Saskia Diamond voted the best centre court player.
Diamond copped the overall individual prize of Player of the Tournament.
The other awards went to St. Lucia’s Sarah Alexander – Best Defender; Dominica: Most Disciplined Team; while the host took the March-Past prize.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, although playing unbeaten, had to settle for the second spot behind St. Lucia.
SVG drew 55 each with Grenada and 49 with St. Lucia. They beat St. Kitts 50 – 42, Antigua 56 – 39, Dominica 57 – 43 and Nevis 69 – 21. St. Lucia edged out Grenada 43 – 42, to cop the top spot.
Grenada ended the tournament in third position. Doris Mc Intosh led the St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ contingent as manager, accompanied by Joan Foster-Baynes, coach and Michelle Guy, umpire.
