Who was Lorna Small?

Lorna noreen Small née Allen was born on 9th June, 1934, at Colonarie.

She attended the Colonarie Roman Catholic Primary School. Following this, she attended the St. Vincent Girls’ High School.{{more}}

She worked as a young Librarian, and pursued Library Studies at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies. She was a devout Christian, serving in the Methodist Church as a young adult, as choir member, Sunday School teacher, Class leader, member of the prayer group, Women’s League, Emius gathering, Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Horticultural Society and a member of SVG Soroptimist International. She served as Director of Library Services, introduced the Book Mobile service, and started the National Archives later in her career.

She was my first cousin, sharing maternal grandparents. She was also a dear friend. She was a kind and considerate person, was jovial, and had a way with words. She was very knowledgeable and had an interest in cultural affairs. She was married on the 30th April, 1966, to Mr. Claude Small, a government pharmacist. She had two children, a boy and a girl. She was always a peace loving person.
