Ministry completes school field trips

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture completed, on November 8, the last of its School Field Trips for 2005.

Marina Lampkin Tourism Education Officer, with the assistance of the Forestry Division and CWSA/ Solid Waste, conducted tours designed to educate and sensitize on the importance of protecting our most precious commodity – St Vincent and the Grenadines. {{more}}Students were informed about the importance of protecting our forests, our waterways and proper disposal of solid waste.

Sites visited included the Cumberland Forest’s water catchment site and the principal nesting areas of the National Parrot – Amazona Guildingi. Students of the St. Vincent Girls’ High School visited this site. Students of the Emmanuel High School Kingstown visited German Gutter – Troumaca, to get a first hand look at the devastating effects of erosion, while the Diamond Landfill was visited by pupils of the Gomea Methodist school, where they were given the opportunity to learn about waste management and recycling.
