Kemi-Ann Wilkinson is top Junior Saver

A five-year-old is the winner of the 2008 Junior Savers award. Kemi-Ann Wilkinson received her award at the Co-operative department awards ceremony held on Tuesday, 14 October at the Peace Memorial Hall.{{more}}

Kemi-ann, who was also awarded first place award in Zone six has saved over $1000 in her Co-operative account. She is a pupil of the Fancy Government School.

The ceremony saw several other students receiving awards for being thrifty. Reon Williams of the Rose Hall Government took the first place award for Zone one while Shamal Miller of the Layou Government was second.

Calliaqua Anglican student Kyle John received the first place award for Zone two and Clavia Charles of the Lowman’s Leeward Anglican claimed the second place award.

In Zone three, Richland Park Government School pupil Duacel Cato was the recipient of the first place award and Aju Cain of the Argyle RC was second.

Ozari Gurley, a student of the Bequia Anglican won the first place award for Zone four while Cher Kydd of the Paget Farm Government was second.

In Zone five, Devin Baptiste of the Lauders primary was second while Cliferna Thomas of the South Rivers grabbed the first place. Rita Alexander of the Tourama Government was second in Zone Six.

In the Secondary School category, Amir Browne of the Petit Bordel Secondary carried home the first place award in Zone one while Akeem John of the Barrouallie Secondary claimed the second place award.

Ariel Gibson of the Girls’ High School received the first place award in Zone two. St. Vincent Grammar School student Taj Lee was second.

Natalia Trotman received the Georgetown/ Mt.Coke Circuit Methodist Co-op Credit union award. Joehannis James took the Barrouallie Co-op Credit union award.

Fiona Richardson received the Marriqua Co-op credit union award. Kyle John got the Kingstown Co-op credit union award. Kiara Crichton received the General employees Co-op credit union award.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Mobilisation Rosita Snagg, in her remarks said the children have demonstrated that “they are leading the way in a number of respects and we are to follow”.

She urged the parents present to continue encouraging their children of the importance of saving from an early age.

The ceremony formed part of activities to mark credit union week and was held by the Co-operative department in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the SVG Co-operative Credit Union League and the affiliates

Georgetown/ Mt.Coke Circuit Methodist Co-op Credit Union, Barrouallie Co-op Credit Union, Marriaqua Co-op credit Union, Kingstown Co-op Credit Union and the General Employees Co-op Credit Union. (VM)
