United Survivors retain national Women’s Cricket title

United Survivors are once again winners of the national Women’s Cricket championship, staged under the auspices of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association.{{more}}

Survivors confirmed their title on the weekend with an eight-wicket triumph over Central Windward.

Natasha John 4 for 9 and Maria Abbott- Ballantyne 3 for 6, combined to dismiss Central Windward for 43. United Survivors then replied with 44 for 2.

In other matches played last weekend, Garifuna Stars whipped Ajuba by 41 runs.

Garifuna batted first and scored 75. Clea Hoyte 3 for 22, Sandra Samuel 2 for 10 and Jenifer Charles 2 for 11, bowling for Ajuba, who responded with 43.

Terisha Lavia 3 for 2 and Denise Francois 3 for 15, did the job with the ball for Garifuna Stars.

And, JG Tigress earned an eight-wicket victory over Central Windward. Rochelle John took 3 for 6 and Annesia Williams 3 for 9, seeing to the demise of Central Windward for 36, to which Tigress replied with 37 for 2.

NLA First Division

In the lone match of the National Lotteries Authority First Division, Robertson Surveys Belmont defeated the Neil Williams Academy by four wickets.

The Academy made 66, batting first, as Jerome Samuel 5 for 12, Michael Jack 2 for 6 and Javed Cordice 2 for 33, claimed the wickets for Belmont.

Omarlie Lavia then hit a topscore of 55, as Belmont got to 140 all out in reply. Ian Allen 2 for 21, Andy Baptiste 2 for 22 and Mickhail Weekes 2 for 40, shared the wickets for the Academy.

The Academy’s second innings stopped at 97. Mickhail Weekes scored 34. Omarlie Lavia 3 for 19, Mickron Delpesche 2 for 10 and Adolphus Campbell 2 for 24, bowling for Belmont.

Set 24 to win, Belmont laboured to 25 for 6. Roland Mc Kie 3 for 16 and Joelani Neil 2 for 6, threatened a come-from-behind win. (RT)
