Stop blocking the hospital entrance!

Fri May 24, 2013

Editor: It has now become a habit for minibuses to block the entrance to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital during busy hours of the day.{{more}}

For heaven’s sake, there are no bus stops at the hospital entrance, and what makes it worse is that sometimes up to three vans will be there at the same time. I don’t know when our people will learn. We have been emancipated from the shackles of colonial slavery, but mentally we are still in slavery. God forbid if there is an emergency and that entrance is blocked. That could be me, it could be you, in a life or death situation.

I am asking the authorities of the Traffic Department of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force to do something, and to do it soon. We are a people who do not seem to care about authority. We always want to do our own thing. I think there should be two sets of roads, one for private vehicles and one for minibuses, as the drivers of these public vehicles seem to feel that they own the road. Once they indicate that they want to move, they feel that you must allow them to do so immediately and if you do not, they would tell you all kinds of things about your mother. Things that even your mother don’t know. Sometimes even the police would get the length of these drivers’ tongues. And I mean in the worst way.

The laws are there! Would someone in authority PLEASE make sure that they are implemented!
