Patrons rejoice in God’s glory at finale of Gospel Fest 2013

Gospel Fest 2013 came to a close last Sunday with appearances by a mission team from the United States, recording artiste Jason ‘JP’ Providence and many outstanding local performers.{{more}}

The night showcased many young and gifted Christians from various zones, using their God-given talents in a positive way.

Among the more memorable appearances of the night was Crislon Frazier of Kingdom Life Ministries, delivering an inspiring sermonette with the theme: “Lift Jesus Higher”.

It was not long before this young preacher had the fairly large crowd erupting in amens and hallelujahs.

“Jesus Christ deserves this kind of recognition. Somebody say hallelujah,” Frazier said with conviction, “…every believer ought to lift Jesus higher”.

The crowd also seemed to appreciate a chorale speech entitled “Dress Down”, done by girls of the Faith Temple Church.

With abstinence being the message they wished to portray, the girls repeated the catchy line; “Keep your dress down and your legs crossed and your virginity won’t be lost”.

A mission team from the United States was also present at the last night of Gospel Fest activities.

Leader of the group, Pastor Veryl Howard was presented with a plaque by the chairman of the Gospel Fest committee, Fidel Taylor.

“On behalf of the gospel fest committee, Pastor Veryl…we want to show our love and appreciation to you…for all that you have done and making Gospel Fest 2013, the success that it is today,” Fidel said.

Howard was present last year at Gospel Fest and vowed to return with a mission.

Before Howard delivered the word, her mission team led patrons in a praise and worship session. At one point, one of the members jumped into the crowd to be closer to them, as they stretched their hands out to the sky and swayed to “My God is Awesome”.

After Howard’s sermon, many persons from the crowd joined the mission team members at the foot of the stage for a session of prayer.

Not long after, Jason Providence arrived on stage and persons cheered for him to begin his long awaited performance.

Providence had the crowd chanting the hook of his songs, and sang along with him as he launched into one of his songs, “True Believer”.

“I love God, I love St Vincent…we should treat each other equally, with equal love,” Providence told his audience.

Included in the repertoire of songs sung by Providence was “Most High” and “New Song”.

This year, the most outstanding solo, duet, group or band that took part in the festival will receive a video and recording contract, compliments Mt Zion Production and Jason Providence.(BK)
