World Paediatrics provides services to 77 Vincentian children
A small team from World Paediatrics conducted a pulmonary clinic at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), earlier this month where children with a range of respiratory conditions were assessed and received intervention.
It was the third Pulmonology clinic that was being conducted in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), and was geared towards providing diagnostic consultations and intervention to children with asthma, sleep disordered breathing, and bronchitis, amongst other chronic respiratory conditions, a WP release states.
The small team of two was led by paediatric pulmonologist, Dr. Michael Schechter who was joined by pulmonary nurse, Sasha Gay-Overstreet. They were provided with local support by Dr. Joy Walters as well as nurses from the MCMH. Over the course of three days, March 15 – 17, 2026 the team evaluated 77 Vincentian children.
Following the clinic in SVG, the team travelled to Grenada where they provided similar medical services to 50 children.
The team has extended sincere appreciation to the World Paediatrics SVG team and the staff of the MCMH for their invaluable support during the visit, highlighting their exceptional professionalism throughout the trip. Dr. Schechter also expressed admiration for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, noting the meaningful impact the initiative continues to have on their lives.
World Paediatrics, its volunteers, and families have also extended sincerest gratitude to the Mustique Charitable Foundation for sponsoring this team, whose vital support continues to drive the delivery of life-changing paediatric care and expand access to critical medical services for children across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
