UNESCO World Heritage Centre launched in SVG
THE UNITED NATIONS Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched its World Heritage Centre on March 16, 2026 in collaboration with the UNESCO National Commissions of Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The Heritage Center was launched at a three-day technical mission workshop at the conference room of the Beachcomber’s Hotel, Villa.
It focused on progressing the nomination proposal for St.Vincent and the Grenadines’ submission to the World Heritage list for UNESCO.Technical teams from The Bahamas, Grenada and SVG were present to engage on how to prepare nomination dossiers.
Chief of the nomination Unit,World Heritage Centre- UNESCO and featured speaker, Alessandro Balsamo, in his remarks spoke about the significance of the workshop and how essential it would be for the states.
“…it represents the start of a political organization about what institutional arrangement must be strengthened,” he stated.
