SVGNAA executive pays courtesy call on newly sworn-in G-G

THE NEWLY ELECTED Executive Committee of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines National Awards Authority (SVG NAA), the umbrella body responsible for the administration of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DEIA) in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, paid a courtesy call on the newly sworn-in Governor General on Friday, January, 30, 2026, at the office of the Governor General.The Governor-General serves as patron of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award SVG.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Executive to formally congratulate His Excellency on the assumption of office and to reaffirm the National Award Authority (NAA) commitment to national development, youth empowerment, and civic excellence through the Award Programme.

During the engagement, discussions centred on the role of the National Awards Authority in recognizing outstanding service and leadership, as well as the continued impact of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in fostering personal development, resilience, and community engagement among young people across the nation.

His Excellency welcomed the group and expressed appreciation for the work of the National Awards Authority, noting the importance of initiatives that encourage service, discipline, and national pride. The Governor General commended the team for their contribution to youth development and nation-building and encouraged the continued expansion and strengthening of the Award Programme.

The SVG National Awards Authority, Executive reaffirmed their dedication to working in partnership with national stakeholders to uphold the values of service, excellence, and integrity, and to inspire Vincentians – particularly the youth – to contribute meaningfully to the development of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Award Programme is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 24 years to register for the programme and complete their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.The young people are supported by Award Leaders and volunteers. The SVG National Awards Authority accepts registrations from participants as well as adult volunteers. The Authority can be contacted via svgnaa@hotmail.com.
