Minister of Education presents educational tools to the Guiding Light Preschool
TEACHERS AND STUDENTS of the Guiding Light Preschool, Richland Park, welcomed the Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information, Phillip Jackson, on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The Guiding Light Preschool opened its doors in 1998 and is one of the oldest preschools in the community. In his new role as Minister of Education and Area Representative, Minister Jackson recognised the need to donate educational tools to the preschool.
Jackson stated that the Government is a big supporter of early childhood education. To this end, he “brought some toys, some motor skills, and some books … And I hope that it can help to enhance what you do for the children of this area. I hope that the kids will enjoy using them and they will have fun while they learn.”
In response to Minister Jackson, Guiding Light Preschool Supervisor Brenda-Lee Richards expressed her gratitude for his donation. “Thank you for all the gifts that you brought with you.We appreciate it.We will use it to develop the school and also develop the children’s motor skills, language, and Maths,” Richards stated.
Richards also noted that she would like to see more financial assistance to offset losses due to fewer students. “We wish we could have gotten some more financial assistance, because the population of the school dropped… Sometimes it’s hard to get finance to pay our teachers, so I hope that we can get some help,” the Guiding Light Supervisor said.
