Seamoss farmers invited to apply for grant funding
THE ST.VINCENT AND the Grenadines Conservation Fund (SVGCF), is inviting seamoss farmers to submit proposals for projects under the theme “Seamoss Farming for Livelihoods and Coastal Health”.
This initiative aims to promote sustainable seamoss farming, enhance coastal ecosystems and improve livelihoods through value-added production and innovation, the SVGCF stated in a release.
It explained that proposals should promote environmentally responsible seamoss farming, enhance income and employment opportunities for farmers and producers, support innovation in processing, packaging and product diversification, build resilience in coastal communities and strengthen partnerships among local producers and cooperatives. It outlined that seamoss farmers, cooperatives and value-added producers are eligible to apply once they are:
•Legally registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines •Actively engaged in seamoss farming or production • Compliant with national environmental, fisheries, and business regulations; and are
•Able to implement and manage the project, with financial accountability.
Those applying are encouraged to submit collaborative proposals that include a cover letter, the applicant’s information, project description, environmental and social impact statement, a budget, timeline and monitoring plan.
The maximum grant amount will be $EC25,000, and will be determined on project scope, impact, and alignment with SVGCF priorities.
Applicants for funding have until Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. to submit their applications.
