SVG reaffirms commitment to ALBA-TCP
DWIGHT FITZGERALD BRAMBLE, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs
Press Release
December 19, 2025

SVG reaffirms commitment to ALBA-TCP

THE GOVERNMENT of St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), has reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation, integration and complementarity within the framework of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), following the 25th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The summit convened virtually on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and the SVG the delegation was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs, Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states.

It said SVG took this opportunity to reaffirm its continued commitment to deepening the process of integration and unity among Latin American and Caribbean nations within the ALBA-TCP framework, in keeping with shared objectives of cooperation, development and mutual support.

The summit adopted a Final Declaration; however, the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines formally registered its reservation regarding the Final Declaration adopted at the Summit. This reservation reflected the country’s newly elected administration’s concerns, regarding the limited time frame to review the Final Declaration. Therefore, the release points out that SVG was unable to submit appropriate negotiating positions prior to its adoption by Heads of State and Government.

The Government underscored that this reservation is procedural in nature and is intended to ensure that St Vincent and the Grenadines’ positions were fully considered through the appropriate consultative processes, consistent with its constitutional responsibilities and diplomatic practice.

St Vincent and the Grenadines reiterates its readiness to work constructively and collaboratively with Member States of ALBA-TCP to promote economic development, peace, security and shared prosperity for the people of the region, in accordance with the guiding principles of ALBA-TCP and in full adherence to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
