Lodge donates transportation money for Union Island students

UNION ISLAND RESIDENT, Idelia Ferdinand, was the recipient of a cheque in the amount of EC$5,000 from the District Grand Lodge of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. The cheque was presented by member, the Worshipful Master, Jay Brereton.

A release from the Lodge said the money will be used towards transporting students from Union Island who attend school on the mainland following the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024, which caused massive destruction on the southern Grenadine island.

Ferdinand is said to have thanked the Lodge for the donation, and said it would be most helpful and would make a difference to the children.

The Deputy District Grand Master,W Bro.Dr. Lutz Amechi and the President

of the Board of Benevolence,W Bro.Juan Bailey were on hand to witness the handover.

The District Grand Lodge and the Lodges throughout the District are always helping the communities where possible in times of need, the release concluded.
