Sagicor urges men to prioritize their health
AS NOVEMBER COMES to an end, Sagicor said it is renewing its call for men across the Caribbean to prioritize their health, with a continued focus on prostate cancer awareness, early detection, and overall wellbeing.
According to the World Cancer Research Fund, prostate cancer is the fourth most common cancer globally, the Insurance entity said in a release. This deadly disease is the second most common cancer in men. Health professionals continue to stress that early detection greatly improves treatment outcomes, underscoring the importance of regular medical checkups and open conversations with healthcare providers.
“Far too many men delay medical visits, even when something feels off,” said Chief Executive Officer, Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc., Paul Inniss.
“As we close the month, we’re reminding our fathers, brothers, and friends that one screening discussion with their doctor can make a life-changing difference.”
Throughout November, Sagicor said its awareness efforts guided men on symptoms to look out for and encouraged them to pay attention to changes in urinary or physical health. It also reinforced that mental and emotional wellbeing is a vital part of men’s health, encouraging men to reach out for support when needed.
Sagicor said its initiatives included webinars, community outreach, and partnerships with clinics to help men understand the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test and connect them to approved providers for screening. While International Men’s Day on November 19, helped spotlight men’s issues, Sagicor said its commitment extends beyond a single day, maintaining a steady month-long push to empower men to make informed health decisions.
