Calder SDA hosts People with Disabilities at Special Service
The Calder Seventh-day Adventist Church on November 15, 2025, hosted its annual service for the disabled. Held under the theme: “Celebrating Abilities, Creating Possibilities” the church said this was their 17th year hosting the service, and it is evident that the church is cognizant of its social and moral obligation, and is determined to fulfil it as best as it can by God’s grace.
“The theme is symptomatic of the valuable, care and compassion that members of the church have for those with physical and mental limitations,” the release states. “It is the only church in the Adventist Mission and by extension the nation that has been hosting this service for the disable on a yearly basis.”
The service began at 9:15 a.m with song service led by the church praise and worship team, and Pastor Claudius Morgan delivered the sermon. He told the congregation that disability is a direct consequence of sin. However, God can heal, but if he chooses not to, he can still be trusted as He knows best.
Attendees were drawn from the Lewis Punnet Home; School for Children with Special Needs,Georgetown and Kingstown; the Calder Diabetic Association; National Society of and for the Blind; National Society for Persons with Disabilities; Voice of the Disabled; and the Mental Health Center.
Brief remarks were made by individuals representing private and government institutions.

Karen Nero who spoke on behalf of the Ministry of National Mobilization applauded the church for providing spiritual, moral and social support for those who are differently abled. She also assured the members of the church that her ministry is pleased to work with them in the interest of the vulnerable. Invitees were provided with care packages “prepared specifically for the disabled and challenged, “ those who, unfortunately, in many respects are not as privileged as others”.
