Six finalists for Lion’s Secondary Schools Public Speaking Contest
Following presentations from 20 schools at four preliminaries held at the Frenches House from October, 7-10, 2025, the judges have selected the six finalists to represent their respective schools in the 2025 Lions Club South/FLOW National Secondary Schools Public Speaking Competition.
The finalists are: Sophia DeRiggs, St Joseph’s Convent, Kingstown; Joshua Samuel, Mountain View Adventist Academy; J’Quan Edwards,Thomas Saunders Secondary School; Serenity Joseph, St Vincent Girls’ High School; Isaiah Toney, St Vincent Grammar School; and Braxton Lewis, North Union Secondary School.
The finalists accompanied by a teacher, met yesterday, Monday October, 13, where they were provided with the topic, briefed about the finals, and selected their order of appearance.
The finals will take place on Thursday, October, 30, 2025 commencing at 7:00 p.m at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown.
The Lion’s South said in a release that this year, the competition is being done in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by telecommunications provider, FLOW.
The finalists will be vying for the Lion Michael De Freitas Challenge Trophy, along with other prizes.
Rahj Bulze of the Dr. J.P Eustace Memorial Secondary School placed first in the 2024 competition.
