Pre-schoolers receive care at start of Dental Week school visits
CHILDREN AT PRE-SCHOOLS in Georgetown and Layou, were among the early recipients of service from the Dental Services Division in the Ministry of Health as activities for Dental Health Awareness Week rolled out this week. The dentists, dental technicians and other support dental staff fanned out across several pre-schools and primary schools yesterday, Monday, September, 2025 to offer dental services to the children. These visits, to selected pre-schools and primary schools will continue on the mainland and on Bequia, today, September, 16, 2025. National Dental Health Awareness Week commenced on Sunday, September 14, 2025, with the team attached to the public health system worshipping at the Kingstown Baptist Church.
“We begin the week with the understanding that while programmes have their place, it is God, not man that ultimately gives success,” Dr Brandon Richards, Chief Dental Surgeon told the congregation on Sunday.
The dental division comprises a staff of 45 professionals based at nine health facilities across the state. This year’s theme is: A health mouth is the first step towards a healthy body. Several other activities, including a dental fair tomorrow, September 17, 2025, are on the programme for the week.
