GHS returns best CSEC results for 2025

APPROXIMATELY 79.11% of subject entries in the May/June 2025 Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (CSEC) were awarded Grades I-III, as against 73.60% in 2024,and the Girls’ High School again tops the results.

The Ministry of Education released the preliminary CSEC results on August, 28, 2025, having received them on August 27,2025. Maths results continued to be poor, at 34.34%; while Physical Education and Sports, at 99.64 per cent, saw the best pass results.

Theatre Arts (94.87%) and Additional Mathematics (94.87%), also recorded excellent results; while Technical Drawing (59.17%) fell in the lower ranking alongside Math.

The Ministry of Education said in its release that this year 2,212 candidates from St Vincent and the Grenadines were registered for the examinations.

Of these, 1,570 were school candidates and 642 were private candidates. There were 1,557 school candidates from 28 secondary schools sitting papers I and II, with 10,440 subject entries in 31 subject areas.

The largest entries were in English A (1,318), Mathematics (1,258), Social Studies (718) and Electronic Document Preparation and Management (689).

Eight schools recorded percentage pass rates of 80% or more.

The Girls’ High School (GHS) returned the highest pass rate- 98.92%; followed by the St Vincent Grammar School- 94.86%. St Martin’s Secondary returned a percentage pass rate of 90.13%; St Joseph’s Convent, Kingstown, 88.19%; Canouan Secondary, 85.25%;Thomas Saunders Secondary, 85.08%; St Joseph’s Convent, Marriaqua, 84.39%; and Bequia Seventh Day Adventist School, 81.88%.

The ministry said 17 schools obtained creditable pass rates between 60 % and 80%.These are: North Union Secondary (78.86%); Bishop’s College, Kingstown (77.89%); West St George Secondary (75.23%); St Clair Dacon Secondary (74.52%); Bethel High School (72.76%); Mountain View Adventist Academy (69.44%); Sandy Bay Secondary ( 67.94%); Union Island Secondary (67.16%); Georgetown Secondary (66.31%); Intermediate High (66.12%); Troumaca Ontario Secondary (64.41%); Emmanuel High School Mesopotamia (63.28%); Barrouallie Secondary (63.13%) Adelphi Secondary (62.76%); Buccament Secondary (62.70%); Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial (61.75%); and Bequia Community High (60.22%).

The Ministry of Education has extended congratulations to all students, and gratitude to the Principals, teachers and staff at all schools for their support of the students. “We are cognizant of the fact that outcomes in education are measured, not only in quantitative terms, but also in qualitative terms; therefore, the value added to the lives of all of the students, the top performers as well as those whose performance can be improved, is greatly appreciated,” the Ministry stated in its release.
