A carpenter of Murray’s Village has been charged with the offence of arson

According to a press release issued by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force(RSVGPF) today April 20, Cordial Jack was arrested and charged on April 14.

The 42-year-old stands accused of, on March 15 at about 10:37am, without lawful excuse, destroying one 18 ft by 25 ft two storey wall and wooden dwelling house by setting it on fire. The value of the house and contents are unknown.

The release said that Jack is expected to appear at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court(KMC) in relation to the matter.

A family with four children and two other tenants were left homeless after an individual lit a structure in Murray’s Village afire, apparently saying while he did so that persons were trying to destroy his life and reputation.

The structure was owned by 64-year-old Marcelle Baptiste who was at home in her residence that is on the same property to the now burnt structure at the time of the incident. Her home received minor fire damage as the elderly woman prayed in the face of the flames that her home be spared.
