Building our nation
Editor: The recent fire that burned the Calliaqua Police Station where it is believed that many documents were destroyed has brought to focus a weakness in the system. It is where in this day of modern technology we are still lagging behind in technology. By this I mean we ought to seriously put in place a central computer database where each station is connected.
In this case of reports, it ought to be transferred on a computer and this information can then be linked to a central database. This ought to be done in all the stations, so not only reports but important documents.
Then the local station would also have a copy of it on their system. So in the case of what occurred at Calliaqua, there would still be information and files available at the central data point. For what occurred can happen to any other stations. The same can be done for government ministries and health institutions.
The elections are completed and we have a new administration, so it is time for us to come together and build this nation. There is far too much hatred, desire for revenge and anger. This is not good, for it sets back progress. We have to embrace each other as one and seek to work together as one people.
If we must build our nation we ought to respect each other’s view. We ought to be willing to accept constructive criticism. This helps build a stronger nation. For we know true friends will always criticize and show each other their faults. So criticism should not be seen as hatred, but should be taken and analyzed. My dear people, it is time we put aside the politics and tribalism that comes with it sometimes. It is time we try to heal the wounds. It is time we come together and not be divided along party lines. There are many who still spur out hatred politically and are still enemies.
These actions can have a negative effect on our young people who are looking at us for leadership and being a role model. So when we behave in this way, we are encouraging our young people to show hatred and act violently. The sad thing is that even in churches we are seeing hatred and malice demonstrated because of party politics. Let us come together and build this nation.
