Developing an extravagant mind
You are brilliant, yes, you are. Within you exists a mind rich with potential, creativity, and purpose. It is a powerful space where dreams are formed, visions take shape, and hope refuses to die, even in the face of adversity. An extravagant mind does not deny challenges; it rises above them. It is resilient, intentional, and anchored in the belief that better is always possible.
Too often, we measure the worth of the mind by certificates, degrees, and titles alone. While education is valuable, the mind is far more than an academic storehouse. It is a workshop where character is built, values are refined, and the tools for life are sharpened. Qualities such as integrity, empathy, discipline, courage, and perseverance are just as essential as formal learning, especially for people committed to growth and nation-building.
Whether young or old, let us imagine together what is possible for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. What if we became more intentional about how we think? What if our thoughts were shaped not by fear, frustration, or comparison, but by vision, responsibility, and hope? An extravagant mind practices mindful thinking. It rejects “stinking thinking” that breeds negativity, hopelessness, and division.
This kind of mind makes no room for hatred. Instead, it is grounded in love, respect, and shared responsibility. It values collaboration over competition and understands that real progress is achieved together. In a small island nation like ours, unity is not a slogan, it is a necessity. Our strength has always been found in our ability to think, plan, and move forward as one people.
An extravagant mind is also a critical mind. It asks thoughtful questions, challenges limiting beliefs, and seeks solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It recognizes that the issues we face, whether in health, education, family life, or community development, are first shaped by how we think. Strong communities are not built only with concrete and infrastructure, but with clear vision, sound judgment, and compassionate leadership.
Today, we are being called to renew our thinking. Transformation begins within. When we change how we think, we change how we speak. When we change how we speak, we change how we act. And when those actions are consistent, lives are transformed, families are strengthened, communities are uplifted, and the nation is renewed.
An extraordinary life begins with an extraordinary mind. Let us commit to cultivating the extravagant mind, one that dreams boldly, thinks wisely, and acts with purpose. In doing so, we do not only change ourselves; we help shape a stronger, healthier, and more hopeful future for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
