We ought to be thankful
EDITOR: Many times we do not appreciate kindness and take it for granted.
Also, we as a people have become so political that we place politics into every thing and by doing so, we develop personal hate and anger.
This position has divided us as a nation in some form, and even divides congregations. But, I was, thankfully, brought up by my parents to look at life differently and be thankful and appreciative for the little things as well as the big ones.
With this in mind, I say a special thanks for school bus services to both school children and college students from North Leeward. As we know the fare is now $20 per day for every passenger. This is to and from North Leeward.
Yet, in spite of this, we are still having transportation problems although we are served with many small and large vans. This, tells us that the volume of travellers (college students and adults) has increased over the years. So, we know that more persons are employed and going to school and colleges from North Leeward. For this we ought to be thankful. It shows that there are advancements and improvements in North Leeward.
The commencement of work on the Cumberland By-pass road, and the main road that was damaged and had to be closed off, is something we ought to be thankful for. We have complained about it in written articles and now that work commences, we ought to return thanks.
Of concern is, the Rose Bank main road just above the Community Centre which, for sometime now needed to be fixed. After the [installation] of the large culvert across the road, the holes which continue to get bigger are still to be fixed. This is serious concern, for if the holes are not fixed properly soon I am afraid it can be dangerous. I do not know what is/are the reason(s) for the delay, but I am calling on BRAGSA to deal with it sooner than later.
Interestingly, BRAGSA vehicle passes there every day and also other members of BRAGSA. I do believe that they too are feeling the pain of having their vehicles driving on that road. The ball is in their court, so BRAGSA, I encourage you to do something soon about that piece of road.
Let, me wish us all safe travelling on these roads and much appreciative of the above mentioned.
Thank you.
