Paying a prostitute to fulfil sexual needs is exploitation
Editor: We, all of us, have to be consistent with our opinion around the Camillo/Yugge Farrell matter. I see it as a form of abuse of power and exploitation of the less privileged, the fact that Yuggeâs parents having been ULP, strong supporters of the Labour Party for decades, one of those families who saw Ralph, Camilloâs dad, as the papa to the impoverished.
It is not unusual for those on the island who are considered privileged, to embrace the less privileged into their homes as cheap helpers, which is really a replica of the house-slave-scheme back in the days of slavery.
I do support activist John-Prince in saying that âWhen people do things that are wrong, they should speak the truth,â that being my disappointment to the Minister of Financeâs muteness on the matter. His hoity-toity attitude in entering the House of Parliament, presenting a budget to the nation, during the heights of the Yugge/Camillo scandal and refusing to make a simple statement of apology for the hype surrounding his name, to simply state that it is a matter that will be dealt with in due course. Instead, he, a man of dynamic speaking abilities, stays dumbfounded! Is that being pompous, arrogant or a sense of feeling entitled?
Yes, I agree with Prince that âNo one should use their officeâ¦for sexual gratification.â But the alternate to fulfill your sex need (especially as a married person) should never be to go and âpay a prostitute,â as that in itself is exploitation.
We are supposed to be a Christian society and unless the Bible taught us otherwise, I believe we should all adhere to the guilt of adultery in all form. Being an activist does not empower us to advocate against the principles of our Christian beliefs.
