Genuine love is lasting and strengthens the family structure

EDITOR: Many relationships in these times do not seem to last long. While we appreciate the fact that there are many causes of broken relationships. I will, however, mention one of the most common causes of failed relationships and that is a lack of genuine love.

`Genuine love comes from the heart. It is sacrificial and is not selfish. Genuine love grows. Far too often people claim that they fall in love, when they really are in love with the person’s body. Many times it is emotion, rather than genuine love.

It is unfortunate that some ladies go into a relationship because of emotional and financial needs. Sometimes the lady is taken in by sexual expressions and compliments related to her physical make up. It would seem that in these days sex and money are more important than the character of the individual. Thus, many relationships are built on those factors. When this happens, it leads to abuse of various kinds and sometimes domestic violence.

It is true to say that when a relationship is built on needs and not genuine love, it will eventually fail. This can lead to domestic violence and sometimes the man sees the woman as his property and would claim that he has given far too much to her for another man to have her.

Sometimes, there is unfaithfulness by both partners, since emotions do not last. Because of the lack of genuine love, the relationship will eventually become boring and so the partners go elsewhere in search of excitement.

Broken relationships are a scourge on society and can harbour resentment, anger and hatred. When this occurs, it

can lend itself to criminal activity. Also it can affect the children and so they can grow up not knowing how to love and the cycle continues. We must admit, however, that many of the crimes we are hearing about are as a result of a poor family structure, which springs from failed relationships. So, to help reduce criminal activities, we need to start to love from the heart and not for what we can gain financially and emotionally. Genuine love is lasting and strengthens the family structure, which builds a healthy nation. Let LOVE reign.
