We should show more respect for human life

EDITOR: There are many silent killers that may never be tried in a court of law, but will one day be tried by the courts of Heaven. Amongst them are alcohol and abortion.

Abortion is legal murder that will never be tried here by the court of law, but will be dealt with by the Almighty. Abortion

is taking the life of someone. Sadly, that life that has been aborted could have turned out to be a great in society, but we

will never know. Abortion can have a

psychological effect on young ladies or teenage girls. That person can carry around guilt and may also at some point become depressed. However, persons can, with support, avoid the pitfalls of depression and other psychological

problems. But nonetheless, it is a life

that was taken.

Alcohol has taken the lives of many in a silent way. We hear of persons who, while under the influence of alcohol, have done many things that they ordinarily would not do if they were not drunk. For example, some, under alcoholic influence, have gone for sea baths under alcoholic influence and ended up drowning. Some have died in accidents due to alcoholic influence.

Homes have been torn apart due to alcohol. Many children are starved, because the father spends his money on alcohol, while his children and spouse are without food. This can also cause break-ups in relationships, which in turn affect the children’s behavioural patterns. Some of these children turn out to be abusers and even criminals.

Abusiveness has its psychological effect on the family. This spills over into the society and the nation at large. So, a person can be damaged psychologically and emotionally.

May God help us, as a people, to respect lives and also to allow God to control our lives. Of course, we know that there are causes of both abortion and alcohol, but there are also consequences.
