Pre-school at Rose Bank turns 25
EDITOR: On June 22, the THEODORE MCKENZIE PRE-SCHOOL of Rose Bank held its 25th graduation ceremony, where some 11 children graduated. It is indeed commendable that despite the many challenges financially and competition from the government-owned pre-schools, it has survived these many years.
The Roman Catholic-owned pre-school opened its doors in March 1992. Congratulations are in order for its founder Fr Mark and the first teacher in charge Dorothy Matthews (Teacher Jemma). Today the school continues and is well taken care of, with the present teacher in charge, Marilou Sam and staff, along with the co-ordinator Patrick DaSilva.
This pre-school continues to serve the communities of Rose Bank and Petit Bordel with up-to-date facilities. One of the major challenges of the school is failure of some parents to pay the school fees. Of course, according to Sam, this pre-school is the cheapest pre-school on the island, with no lower standards than some of the top pre-schools.
Since its inception and operation, many who have attended this pre-school are professionals today in many fields. Indeed, they had their early socializing in a positive way and training, along with education at this institution. Thus congratulations must go to this school and the teachers who have, over the years, worked at this school. They have indeed been of influence in shaping the minds of many of our young people.
The school does not make a profit financially, but continues to operate, thanks to the help it receives from the Catholic Church and their associates. As they celebrate their 25 years in operation, I say a special thank you.
Thanks for assisting in moulding the minds of our young people at that early age. Thanks once again and congratulations to them. May the good Lord continue to shine His light upon them and be gracious unto them.
Theodore McKenzie Pre-school, you have done well. May you find the courage and strength to go on. God bless you all.
