A need for new cemeteries in Kingstown constituencies
EDITOR: Development is an important thing in every country. No doubt, as we develop, there would always be more challenges and needs.
Due to the rise in population, it has led to a need for more cemeteries. As we would recognize, with the increase in population, there would also be an increase in deaths.
The Kingstown Cemetery is at present almost full. This has led to the need for, not only a new cemetery, but also the placement of cemeteries in other Kingstown constituencies. At present, the Kingstown Cemetery accommodates burials from as far as Sion Hill and all the villages in the Kingstown constituencies, with the exception of Lowmans Leeward.
It is therefore important that locations be looked at in each of the Kingstown constituencies to house cemeteries.
This, however, is a challenge since there is not much land available for such a need, because a lot of lands have been sold to persons for houses and other buildings. While this development is worthwhile, it is absolutely necessary to deal with this situation. Failure to deal with it can lead to a serious problem where there would be nowhere to bury the dead.
Finally, I am also recommending that a pedestrian crossing be placed at the corner of KFC Kingstown. Several people cross there and very frequently, so it is important that one be placed there.
I look forward to prompt action.
