Thanks for the ongoing work in North Leeward
The Spring Village bridge, work on the wall at Rose Bank, the work at Fitz-Hughes and other projects are indeed welcome. The refurbishing of the marketing depot at Belmont is also welcome news. It means, therefore, that farmers will be able to market their produce. We now see some monies being spent in North Leeward.
While we welcome the aforementioned projects and work, the farmers of North Leeward would welcome an office or some phone numbers where they can contact field workers and other officials in the Agriculture Ministry. We know that farming does not mean crops only, but also livestock. Thus it is important that with the development taking place in North Leeward an improvement is made where farmers are informed as to what days livestock clinics would be held, where and how farmers can contact those responsible for overseeing and carrying out the programmes, as set out by the Ministry of Agriculture and how to contact and interact with extension and field workers.
We know that the efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture must be given full support and for it to be really viable
the farmers must be able to effectively have their issues dealt with. I, therefore, recommend that the Ministry place an office in North Leeward and that numbers of the persons working in the field be made available. We also need to return to the days of having regular animal clinics, as in previous years.
